Anna Vittoria Dolara
Anna Vittoria Dolara (* 1754 in Rome ; † January 11, 1827 ibid.) Was an Italian nun and miniature painter .
Life
After training in the Dominican convent of S. Caterina da Siena a Magnanapoli on the Quirinal in Rome , she became a novice there and entered the order . She spent most of her life in this monastery, where she learned miniature painting and became a master at it.
Obviously she also had considerable administrative skills because she was elected superior of the monastery.
The high points of her artistic career were portraits of Popes Pius VII and Leo XII. A miniature of the Grand Duchess of Tuscany is also known. Dolara was accepted as a member of the Accademia dell'Arcadia under the pseudonym Florinda Carisi .
The French Revolution brought the Roman monasteries, which had previously been spared any reforms, into economic distress. Dolara was able to make a living for the monastery through the production and sale of miniatures.
Anna Vittoria Dolara died on January 11, 1827 in Rome at the age of 73.
Due to a typographical error in a still unknown work, the wrong name Dolgara is also circulating .
