Marc Alaimo (born May 5, 1942 in Milwaukee , Wisconsin ) is an American actor .

Career

Alaimo already played theater in high school. He later gained experience with the Marquette University Players and the Milwaukee Repertory Theater Company . He then moved to New York City to pursue his acting career. In 1973 he began his television career in the Soap Opera Somerset , where he played the role of Virgil Paris. In the years to come, Marc Alaimo played supporting roles in numerous police and action films and series, mostly as a lawbreaker. He also played in well-known films such as Tango and Cash and was seen as Captain Everett in the film Total Recall .

In the episode The Vengeance of the series Spaceship Enterprise: The Next Century , Alaimo embodied the first Cardassian in Star Trek in 1991 . His distinctive neck inspired makeup artist Michael Westmore to give the Cardassians their typical neck. Marc Alaimo also played an Antican in The Mysterious Force , Romulan Commander Tebok in The Neutral Zone, and a human poker player in 19th Century Danger, Part 1 .

Marc Alaimo was finally able to prove his acting skills in the role of Gul Dukat in the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . In 37 episodes he played the former Cardassian commander of the space station, who is still considered the most complex villain in the history of Star Trek.

Private

Alaimo was married twice. His two children (a daughter and a son) were born on the same day, May 5th, as he was.
