The main pool of the Annabad is a 50 × 21 meter swimmer pool with 1 and 3 meter diving boards. It also has two non-swimmer pools measuring 20 × 21 m and 30 × 20 m as well as a paddling pool. The two non-swimmer pools each have slides and the larger one has an additional entry for the disabled. The swimmer's pool, the smaller non-swimmer's pool and the paddling pool are heated to a water temperature of at least 22 ° C. The larger non-swimmer pool is not heated.

The annual season opening with the participation of regional celebrities from politics, administration and business has recently been moved forward. In the 2010s, the pool was usually the first to open in Hanover. The opening in 2019 took place on April 26th, earlier than ever before. In autumn it closes as the last outdoor swimming pool in the city. In 2018 , the year of drought and heat in Europe , it stayed open until October 14th, also a historic record date.

In 2018, with 236,400 visitors, the Annabad was, as in previous years, the most heavily frequented of the seven public outdoor pools in the city.

The events in Annabad include water polo point games by the Hanover Police Sports Club and youth camps from various club branches on the meadow area.

history

Sundial on the lawn of the Annabad

The Annabad was ceremoniously opened on June 16, 1937 by Mayor Arthur Quantity under the name Volksbad Kleefeld , but the unofficial name Annabad prevailed in public. From 1945 to 1954 it belonged to the British occupation forces and was used exclusively by them. In 1954 it was reopened to the local population. In 1969 the Annabad got a swimming pool heater. In 1970 it was officially renamed Kleefelder Bad. This name is still valid today, but is rarely used in public. In 1995 the then ailing Annabad was repaired by a citizens' initiative and in 1996 the city of Hanover handed over the operation to the Hanover Police Sports Club. In 2004 the Annabad was added to the list of architectural monuments . In 2007 the bath was connected to the municipal district heating network. In 2011, due to a large donation, there were extensions to the changing building, in which the police sports club has set up club rooms.
