East Millinocket is a town in Penobscot County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there lived 1723 inhabitants in 871 households on an area of 20.23 km².

Geographical location
East Millinocket is centrally located in Penobscot County. The south-eastern border of the area is formed by the West Branch Penobscot River , the East Branch Penobscot River runs through the east . Both unite just outside of East Millinocket in the neighboring Medway to the Penobscot River . The Dolby Pond borders in the west . The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
Settlement on the East Millinocket area began around 1830. The first settler to settle was George McCauslin. On February 21, 1907, East Millinocket was organized as an independent town, previously the common name was Northeasterly part of Township Letter A, Seventh Range West of the Easterly Line of the State (TA R7 WELS) .
The Northern Development Company was founded in 1897 and renamed the Great Northern Paper Co. two years later . The area grew from an agricultural area to a manufacturing facility. After a new mill was built in Millinocket in 1899 and another was bought in Medway, paper production started in November 1900. In the spring of 1906 a third mill was built in East Millinocket. This included a dam and the corresponding energy generation from hydropower. The influx of workers and the growth of the settlement made an independent administration necessary. On February 21, 1907, this was carried out by the organization as a town.
