Hermon is a town in Penobscot County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 5416 inhabitants in 2210 households on an area of 95.34 km².

Geographical location
Hermon is in the south of Penobscot County. The Black Stream flows through the western part of the town in a southerly direction and flows into the Souadabscook Stream . This flows through Hermon Pond in the south on its way to the mouth of the Penobscot River . The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
Hermon was organized as a town on June 13, 1814. It was previously called Township No. 2, Second Range North of Waldo Patent (T2 R2 NWP). It was named after the biblical mountain Hermon . Settlement in the area started in 1784.
