Webster is in the east of Penobscot County. The Mattawamkeag River flows north through the area. To the south is the only lake in the Webster area, Webster Pond . The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
The original name for the area was: Township No. 6, Third Range North of Bingham's Penobscot Purchase (T6 R3 NBPP) . On September 1, 1856, Webster was organized as a plantation. Webster was named after one of the landowners. This organization was confirmed in 1889.
Settlement of the area began in 1843.
