Bradford is a town in Penobscot County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there were 1290 inhabitants in 583 households on an area of 106.66 km².

Geographical location
Bradford is in the southwest of Penobscot County, in the north borders Piscataquis County . The Mohwak Stram flows through the west of the town in a southerly direction , the Forbes Brook a little east of it and the Dead Stream through the east also in a southerly direction . They all flow with their tributaries into the Pushaw Stream, which flows in an easterly direction . There are no lakes in the town area. The surface is flat, without any significant elevations.

history
Settlement of the Bradford area began in 1803 when the first settlers settled in James White and Robert Marshall. Early settlers also included Cornelius Bradford, a descendant of colonial governor William Bradford .
The area was organized as Blakesburg Plantation in 1820 and on March 12, 1831 the organization as Town followed. The original name for the area was Township No. 1, Fifth Range North of Waldo Patent (T1 R5 NWP).

Several Maine State Routes run through the town area. Maine State Route 155 runs through the eastern part, first in a north-south direction, then in a westerly direction . Main State Route 11 also runs through the western part in a north-south direction and later in a westerly direction. Its extension to the south is Maine State Route 221 .

There are no medical facilities or hospitals in Bradford. The closest facilities for Bradford residents are in Bangor.
The John B Curtis Library is on Main Road in Bradford. The library building was constructed in 1915 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.
