The Annapolis River is a river in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia .
The Annapolis River rises at the northeast end of the Annapolis Valley near Aylesford . From there it flows in a predominantly westward direction past the places Wilmot , Middleton , Lawrencetown and Bridgetown to Annapolis Royal . The Nova Scotia Highway 1 follows the course. A short distance to the west, the Annapolis River flows into the Annapolis Basin , a side bay of the Bay of Fundy . The Annapolis River has a length of approximately 85 km. Its catchment area covers approximately 2000 km².
Hydropower plants
Annapolis Royal has the Annapolis tidal power station on the Annapolis River. It went into operation in 1984 and has an output of 20 MW. The power plant uses the tidal range in the estuary funnel of the river.
