Anne-Sophie Pic's great-grandmother Sophie Pic (née Sahy) founded the restaurant L'Auberge du Pin in the Ardèche department in 1891 . Her son Alain Pic took over the restaurant and was named a three-star chef by the Michelin Guide in 1934 . Two years later he founded the Maison Pic restaurant in Valence . His son Jacques Pic (* 1932) took over the family business and was also awarded a three-star chef by Michelin in 1973. His son Alain Pic (* 1976) began an apprenticeship as a chef at the age of 17 in well-known restaurants in Alsace and Paris as well as with French chocolatiers .

The daughter Anne-Sophie was initially supposed to attend a hotel school in Lausanne , but decided to study business administration and management at the ISG ( Institut supérieur de gestion - grande Ecole de commerce) in Paris and New York. In 1991 she changed her career aspirations, now she also wanted to become a cook and began an apprenticeship with her brother. Their role models were Paul Bocuse , Michel Bras and their father Jacques Pic. At the age of 59, her father suddenly died of an aortic tear. Her brother Alain Pic continued to run the Maison Pic , and in 1995 the restaurant was downgraded to two stars.

In 1993 Anne-Sophie married David Sinapian, who became the manager of the family business, so that from now on she could devote herself entirely to the art of cooking. They met during their studies and both come from Valence. In 2005 their son Nathan was born. In 1998, her brother and his wife Marie-Hélène founded their own restaurant Les Mésanges in Montbonnot-Saint-Martin near Grenoble and left the Maison Pic entirely to his sister.

Three stars and chef of the year

In 2007, Anne-Sophie Pic was honored as a three- star chef by Michelin , she was thus decorated with this prestigious award after her grandfather and father in the third generation and was named after Eugénie Brazier, Marie Bourgeois (both 1933) and Marguerite Bise ( 1951) only the fourth French woman to achieve this rank. On September 24, 2007 she was elected Chef of the Year by 8,000 chefs and was the first French woman to receive this highest award in French culinary art (awarded since 1987).
