Annegret Penciler's work includes installations and photography as well as painting, drawing and video art. In the artistic representation, according to the art historian Anna Wondrak, she deals with everyday motifs, which she takes out of their usual context and transfers into new associative contexts. In doing so, she questions traditional gender roles. Annegret Leuchteiner sees herself as a representative of feminist art.

The art historian Anna Wondrak writes, “At first glance, lead Steiner's installations often seem to show an unbearably ideal world that is crammed with consumer goods, media-based ideals and superfluous have-will projections. These things and arrangements try in vain to fill an inner emptiness and thus show us the madness of this material madness. "

About her videos, the art historian Daniela Stöppel says that Annegret Pencileiner often pursues everyday rituals in her work, exposes their myths and shows the entanglement of modern people in a vortex of repetitions, self-affirmations and always the same longings. “The catastrophe, the terrible break into everyday life like the tsunami in Japan or the attack at the Munich Oktoberfest.” The curator of Penciler's exhibition “Polar Experiment” Matthias von Tesmar describes her video works as “hallucinogenic”. The superposition, with and against each other of levels would create new, strange pictorial spaces.
