Anneke Brassinga
Anneke Brassinga (born August 20, 1948 in Schaarsbergen , Arnhem ) is a Dutch writer and translator.
Life
Anneke Brassinga comes from an atheist family. She studied translation studies at the University of Amsterdam and works as a literary translator. She initially published her own literary attempts under a pseudonym .
As a translator, she has translated works by Jules Verne , Oscar Wilde , Ingeborg Bachmann , EM Foster , Samuel Beckett and Vladimir Nabokov into Dutch. The translation work on Hermann Broch's novel The Death of Virgil and on Sylvia Plath's posthumously published collection of poetry Ariel contributed significantly to her first volume of poetry, Aurora (1987). The works she had collected up to then were published in 2005 under the title Wachtwoorden (Passwords).
Brassinga received several awards for individual volumes, such as the Paul Snoek Poetry Prize in 2001 for the volume of poetry Huisraad and the Constantijn Huygensprijs in 2008 for her complete works and the PC Hooft-prijs in 2015 for her poetry. In 2014/15 she was a guest of the DAAD's Berlin artist program .
