Anneliese Botond

Anneliese Botond (* 1922 ; † December 3, 2006 ) was a German publishing editor and translator .

Life

Anneliese Botond studied and received her PhD at the University of Paris . She worked as an editor for Insel- and Suhrkamp Verlag . She supervised u. a. the authors Paul Celan and Thomas Bernhard . In addition, she has been translating French and Latin American authors into German since the 1960s . In 1984 she received the Johann Heinrich Voss Prize for Translation from the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt for her transfers of the works of the Cuban author Alejo Carpentier .
