Villa Annenstrasse 9

The Villa Annenstraße 9 is a listed building in the Wuppertal zoo district , a villa colony that is designated as a monument area. According to an inscription, it was built in 1902.

description

The property is a multi-storey villa in Art Nouveau style with a hipped roof with numerous dormers and skylights. The villa basically has a rectangular floor plan, this is extended with a semicircular bay - like porch to the right of the entrance door with a trapezoidal floor plan to the southwest. After the construction, the floor plan was later extended to the northeast with a patio . A larger garden on Jaegerstraße that used to belong to the building is no longer preserved.

Despite the installation of modern windows and the addition of garages, which impaired the original appearance, the villa was entered as a monument on October 18, 1994 in the list of monuments of the city of Wuppertal. It is considered an early example of Art Nouveau architecture in Wuppertal and is the only free-standing villa in the Zooviertel with a continuous Art Nouveau decor.
