Charnell
Charnell (born June 17, 1978 in Berlin ; real name Anthony Taylor ) is a Berlin rapper and mixed martial arts fighter. He is considered the pioneer of gangsta rap in Germany.
biography
Early youth
Charnell was born in the Berlin district of Wedding and grew up fatherless in the districts of Kreuzberg , Moabit , Schöneberg and Wilmersdorf . His youth there was marked by gang crime and violence.
Career
Beginnings
Charnell was looking for a way out of the crime in hip-hop and founded the group 4 4 da Mess with the rapper TMO in 1996 , with whom he completed his first EP Mein Leben in 1997. In Mein Leben , Charnell addressed growing up in a socially deprived area , which was a novelty in German hip-hop at the time.
In 1998 4 4 da Mess broke up , Charnell formed the duo Da Fource with TMO and further EPs followed. In 2001 Sony became aware of the two MCs and released their debut album Superior .
When Da Fource was disbanded due to disputes, Charnell signed a contract with the Hamburg hip-hop label Eimsbush . In 2003, the social and Germany-critical single Menschen der Welt appeared here , the single Das ist Echt and Charnell's solo debut number 1 . Charnell was also a member of the Kombo Team Eimsbush and was involved in a joint sampler.
PX Records and conflicts with Aggro Berlin
After Eimsbush went bankrupt , Charnell founded the PX Records label and 030 Gangsta Clicc in Berlin in 2004 . During his time at PX Records Charnell released album 2 and with 030 Gangsta Clicc in 2005 the joint album Kriminelle Akustik , he was also involved in five mix tapes. During this time he discovered and promoted a. a. Rappers like the later IS terrorist Deso Dogg and worked on his releases with rappers like Samy Deluxe , Kool Savas and Eko Fresh . At this time there was beef with the up-and-coming rappers from Aggro Berlin and Bushido , whom Charnell accused of having copied his idea of gangsta rap in German and of not being authentic. Charnell's challenge to the freestyle battle was rejected by Sido .
Further commitment
After PX Records and the 030 Gangsta Clicc broke up due to disputes, Charnell turned his back on Germany and lived mainly in the USA . In 2006 he released the mixtape King of Gangxta Rap with Plattenpapzt . A year later he joined the Hamburg label Jentown Crhyme and was instrumental in his crew's album The Society of Black Ravens .
After another stay in the USA, Charnell returned to Germany in 2009 and released various freetracks. In February 2010 he apologized in the song “Das was war” to all rappers with whom he had conflicted. In particular he mentions u. a. Samy Deluxe, Snaga & Pillath , King Ali, Bushido, Fler , Eko Fresh, Kool Savas or Nadja Benaissa . In June 2010 Charnell made the album For my people available for free download and announced the release of the album Underdog , which is planned for 2010 . In 2011, however, the album Train hard, Fight easy was released first , which is also available for free download . The announced Underdog album was released as two tapes in 2012 and 2013.

Taylor has played two professional MMA matches, winning one and losing one, each on points.
