Annett Davis (born September 22, 1973 in Long Beach (California) ) is an American beach volleyball player .

Career

Davis got into volleyball at UCLA . In 1997 she played her first international beach tournaments with Jenny Johnson Jordan , who became her permanent sporting partner. The open tournament in Dalian in 1998, which she played with Barbra Fontana , was the only appearance with another player. At the 1999 World Cup, Davis / Jordan were only defeated by the Brazilians Adriana Behar and Shelda Bede in the final . Then they won the Espinho Open. After winning the tournament in Marseille the next year , they qualified for the Sydney Olympics with the world's second best result . There they finished fifth after a quarter-final defeat against the Japanese duo Takahashi / Saiki . Because of her first pregnancy , she had to take a sporting break in 2001.

In 2002 she returned to the AVP tour and reached at least the semi-finals at all stations. In the following year Davis / Jordan came in four Grand Slams in the top 5. At the World Cup in Rio de Janeiro they missed a medal by beating Australians Cook / Sanderson 2-0 . Although they were in the final in Shanghai , Stavanger and Marseille in 2004 , they missed the qualification for the Olympic tournament in Athens . In Huntington Beach they made their hundredth joint appearance, making them the longest-running duo in the United States. In 2005 she had her second child. In the following years she only played on the AVP tour, where she achieved numerous other top placements with Jordan.

family

Davis' father, Cleveland Buckner, played basketball in the NBA . Her husband Byron was a professional swimmer .
