Anselmo Gonçalves Cardoso (born January 6, 1984 in Freiria ) is a Portuguese football player . He has been without a club since mid-2015.

Career

Cardoso started his career at hometown club Freiria from where he moved to SC União Torreense . There he played a total of three years before he was signed by CF Estrela Amadora . In its first season, the club was ninth in the top Portuguese division. In the following season, tenth place could be achieved. After 13th place, the club was relegated to eleventh place in 2008/09 due to financial problems.

The striker then changed clubs and went to Nacional Funchal . There he made his debut at European club level in the 2009/10 Europa League season when he came on for Leandro Salino in the 87th minute of the group game against Werder Bremen on December 3, 2009. The game in Bremen ended 1: 4. Nacional finished seventh in the league championship. He usually sat on the bench and came on as a substitute. In early 2012 he left the club for Rio Ave FC , where he could not assert himself.

Anselmo went to Iran in mid-2012 and joined Tractor Sazi Tabriz there. Here, too, he was rarely used and returned to Portugal in early 2014. He was hired by Portimonense SC , who played in the Segunda League . Here he became a regular in the storm again. In the 2013/14 season he failed more often. After the end of the season he left the club and moved to Caldas SC . After a few weeks he joined Al-Mesaimeer SC in Qatar. He scored 19 goals in 17 appearances there. He has been without a club since mid-2015.
