Van Treeck's focal points include art, documentation and architectural photography. Since the late 1980s he has been experimenting with large-scale photo installations and formats of up to 150 square meters. In the 1990s he realized several projects in collaboration with the artist and photographer Charles Wilp . Since the early 1990s, van Treeck has been involved in the photographic documentation of building projects, which he publishes in the form of illustrated books (project: Houses in Motion). It has been published since 2006 by Frank Eyes Verlag, which he founded . In 2007 van Treeck took over the artistic direction and conceptual implementation for the exhibition A Republic Rolls Out the Carpet at Augustusburg Castle in Brühl (UNESCO World Heritage Site) (2008). In 2009, he developed screenography, a digital photographic technique in which, analogous to the photograms by Man Ray and László Moholy-Nagy , the photographic image is created without a camera and is taken directly from the surface of a monitor. Since 2010 he has been working increasingly with moving images and generating art videos and video installations from individual photographs.

Van Treeck's artistic work docks with documentation and press photography. He already gained experience in the media genre in the 1980s and 1990s when he produced photo reports for print media (including ZEITmagazin , VDI-Magazin ).

Van Treeck's best-known works include Pope Benedict XVI , Vladimir Putin and Queen Elisabeth II from the series ... and a moment is for me .
