Antonio Cardoso Cunha

António Cardoso Cunha (born July 13, 1915 in Penso , † June 13, 2004 ) was Bishop of Vila Real .

Life

António Cardoso Cunha was ordained a priest on April 16, 1938 .

Pius XII. appointed him on March 9, 1956 auxiliary bishop in Beja and titular bishop of Baris in Pisidia . The Bishop of Beja , José do Patrocinio Dias , consecrated him bishop on June 10 of the same year ; Co- consecrators were Ernesto Sena de Oliveira , Archbishop ad personam of Coimbra , and João da Silva Campos Neves , Bishop of Lamego .

He attended all the sessions of the Second Vatican Council . Paul VI appointed him on May 13, 1966 coadjutor bishop of Vila Real . After António Valente da Fonseca's resignation , he succeeded him on January 10, 1967 as Bishop of Vila Real. On January 19, 1991, Pope John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
