Antônio Mazzarotto

Antônio Mazzarotto (born September 1, 1890 in Santa Felicidade , Curitiba , Brazil , † July 15, 1980 ) was a Brazilian clergyman and Roman Catholic bishop of Ponta Grossa .

Life

Antônio Mazzarotto received on 23 November 1914, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 16, 1929, Pope Pius XI appointed him . the first bishop of the diocese of Ponta Grossa, which was established in 1926 . The Apostolic Nuncio in Brazil, Cardinal Enrico Gasparri , donated him episcopal ordination on February 23 of the following year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Francesco Cherubini , Nuncio Emeritus in Yugoslavia, and Ignacy Maria Dobowski , Bishop Emeritus of Lutsk .

He attended the first session of the Second Vatican Council as a council father. Already in November 1960 he received a coadjutor in Geraldo Micheletto Pellanda .

On March 20, 1965, Pope Paul VI took his resignation and appointed him titular bishop of Octabia . Due to the changed allocation guidelines, he renounced his titular seat on March 16, 1971.
