Antônio de Sousa Neto
Antônio de Sousa Neto (born May 25, 1803 in Rio Grande , Brazil , † July 2, 1866 in Corrientes , Argentina ) was a Brazilian politician and military man .
On the side of the Rio Grande do Suls separatists, he was an important leader of the Farrapen Revolution against the imperial troops of Brazil. After the Battle of Ceibal , he proclaimed the Piratini Republic .
After the war he moved to Uruguay and fought in the siege of Paysandú during the Uruguayan War . During the Triple Alliance War he was seriously injured in the battle of Tuyutí and died of the consequences on July 2, 1866 in a hospital in Corrientes.
His grave is in Bagé .
