The flower mole beetles or flower beetles (Anthicidae) are a family of beetles that are very similar in appearance to ants .

features

The beetle's small head sits at the end of a pointed pronotum that is narrow and spherical. The legs and antennae are slender, which is what makes the ant-like shape.

The beetles are omnivores and feed on arthropods , pollen , mushrooms and everything else they can find in edible food. Some species are beneficial insects because they are of larvae and eggs of pests feed.

The larvae are either omnivores, hunters or mushroom eaters. The larvae of the genus Notoxus also like to eat sweet potatoes .

Numerous species of the family store the poison cantharidin in order to use it against their predators.
