Anthony Doghmi

Anthony Doghmi (born November 29, 1972 ) is a former German football player .

Life

Doghmi is descended from a Tunisian father who worked as a film producer in the United States and a German mother. After starting football in the youth division of the Würzburg Pumas, he played with the Rothenburg Knights (1992 and 1993) and from 1994 to 1997 with the Hanau Hawks .

He played from 1998 to 2003 for the Düsseldorf team Rhein Fire in the NFL Europe . In 1998 and 2000, the linebacker won the World Bowl with the Düsseldorf team . In 2002 and 2003 he moved into the final of the NFL Europe with the team, but lost to Berlin Thunder and Frankfurt Galaxy respectively .

In 1998 and 1999, the 1.96 meter long Doghmi was on the pitch for the Braunschweig Lions outside of the NFL Europe season in the Football Bundesliga . He won the German championship with Lower Saxony in 1998 and 1999 and the Eurobowl in 1999 . With the German national team, he won the silver medal at the 2000 European Championships

In addition to his employment in the NFL Europe, Doghmi was a member of the Düsseldorf Panther in 2000 and 2001 and of the Essen team Assindia Cardinals in 2003 and 2004 . In 2005 he returned to the Düsseldorf Panthers, and in 2008 he rejoined the Assindia Cardinals. Both in Düsseldorf and in Essen, Doghmi worked in the coaching staff in addition to his playing activities. As a player, he finished second at the 2005 World Games in Duisburg with Germany winning the 2005 European Championship and third at the 2007 World Cup.

For the 2009 season he moved to the regional division Mönchengladbach Mavericks , where he worked as an assistant coach and supervised the defense. He was also involved in Mönchengladbach as a player in the fact that the team was promoted to the GFL in 2010, where he also ran for the Gladbacher. In July 2009 he was also appointed to the coaching staff of the German national team, where he was responsible for the linebackers .

In the run-up to the 2012 season he came back to the coaching staff of the Assindia Cardinals and took over the management of the defensive line . From August 2016 he worked as an assistant coach for the Düsseldorf Panthers and won the runner-up in the second division with the Rhinelanders in 2017. In October 2017, Doghmi was introduced as a new addition to the coaching staff of the Schiefbahn Riders from Willich , but was also employed by the Düsseldorf Panthers in 2018.
