Anthony Ernst Mary "Bob" Duynstee (born December 24, 1920 in Amsterdam ; † May 9, 2014 in Maastricht ) was a Dutch politician of the Katholiek Nationale Partij (KNP) and most recently the Katholieke Volkspartij (KVP), which among other things more than ten For many years was a member of the Second Chamber of the States General and State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense .

Life

Duynstee, a grandson of the judge and politician Theodorus Johannes Antonius Duynstee , completed after visiting the Roman Catholic primary school, the Roman Catholic secondary school in Maastricht and the Roman Catholic Sint Canisius - High School in Nijmegen 1939-1941 study at Clongowes Wood College in Clane and from 1945 to 1947 an undergraduate degree in commercial management at University College Dublin , from which he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce . He completed a subsequent postgraduate degree in economics at University College Dublin in 1947 with a Master of Economic Science with a thesis on Keynes theory of full employment and public finance .

He then worked from 1948 to 1952 as head of the office for Scandinavian countries at the OECD and from 1952 to 1956 as head of the office for international cooperation in the international relations department of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines .

Duynstee, who was originally a member of the Katholiek Nationale Partij (KNP) and joined the Katholieke Volkspartij (KVP) in 1955 , became a member of the Second Chamber of the States General on July 3, 1956 and was a member of it for more than ten years until February 22, 1967. During this time he was also a member of the joint meetings of the Council of Europe and the Western European Union (WEU) between January 1962 and May 1967 . On April 29, 1966 he was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of the Dutch Lion .

On April 18, 1967, Duynstee was appointed State Secretary for Air Force Affairs ( Koninklijke Luchtmacht ) in the Ministry of Defense by Prime Minister Piet de Jong and held this office in the De Jong cabinet until July 6, 1971. After leaving the government, on July 17, 1971, he was appointed Commander of the Order of Orange-Nassau .
