David Anthony Jacobs, Baron Jacobs , known as Anthony Jacobs , (born November 13, 1931 - June 21, 2014 ) was a British businessman , politician ( Liberal Democrats ) and peer .

Life

Jacobs was born in 1931 to Ridley and Ella Jacobs and attended Clifton College in Bristol and the University of London .

He was 1957-1972 Chairman (Chairman) of Nig Securities Group , 1961-1990 and 1992 and 1994 Tricoville Group , and from 1973 to 1990 the British School of Motoring . Since 1972 he was a member of the Liberal Party . In 1974 he stood unsuccessfully in both general election for the Watford constituency . In 1984 Jacobs became one of several treasurers for his party, an office from which he resigned three years later. In 1988 he became Vice President (Vice-President) of the Social and Liberal Democrats, which he remained until 2008. He was a member of the Federal Executive in 1988 . He was also the Crown Estate Paving Commissioner .

In March 2012 he called for tax cuts to create incentives for the economy.

Membership in the House of Lords

Jacobs was named Life Peer as Baron Jacobs, of Belgravia in the City of Westminster on October 18, 1997 . He gave his inaugural address at the House of Lords on December 10, 1997 on the subject of the international art market. He cited taxes and the Chinook crash as his political interests .

At the end of the 1990s, he spoke on topics such as price anomalies, the Competition Bill and tobacco smuggling. He later talked about novice drivers, the Millennium Dome and diabetes .

He last spoke on March 14, 2008, but later spoke in writing. In December 2008 he resigned from the parliamentary group and party of the Liberal Democrats and has been an independent (Non-Affiliated) ever since .

His presence on meeting days fluctuated very strongly in the middle to lower range.

Family and private

Jacobs married Evelyn Felicity Patchett in 1954; they became parents of a son and a daughter. His net worth was estimated at £ 128 million in the Sunday Times Rich List in 2008, up from number 614.
