Antoine Rebstein

Antoine Rebstein (born July 22, 1978 in Lausanne ) is a Swiss conductor and pianist .

Life

Education and career as a pianist

Antoine Rebstein began his career by studying piano at the Lausanne Music School. He continued his training with Galina Iwanzowa at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and then continued his education with Hans Leygraf Mozarteum in Salzburg , where he also studied choral conducting. He received his first instruction in orchestral conducting from the former general music director of the Komische Oper Berlin , Rolf Reuter . From 2007–2012 he obtained his diploma in orchestral conducting from Christian Ehwald at the Hanns Eisler University of Music in Berlin .

As a pianist he played concerts in halls such as the Wigmore Hall London, Preston Bradley Hall Chicago , Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Tonhalle Zurich . In 2003 he made his debut at the Lucerne Festival. He has interpreted the Ravel piano concerto for the left hand several times and was part of the Arte documentation "Alles mit Links" on the piano repertoire of the left hand.

Conduct

Antoine Rebstein has conducted the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana, St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonie Orchester Biel Solothurn , Craiova Philharmonic Orchestra and Russian Chamber Orchestra. In 2013 he made his debut at the Verbier Festival with the opera “ The Barber of Seville ” and conducted the New Years Concerts in Palermo in 2014, 2015 and 2016. As part of the festival “Va Jouer Dehors!” in August 2016 he was musical director of the opera «L'Ombra». In 2017 he conducted performances of “ Carmen ” at the Rheinsberg Castle Chamber Opera Festival and in November 2019 he will direct the production of “ Peter and the Wolf ” at the Lausanne Opera .

In Berlin , Antoine Rebstein was the musical director of various projects, he recorded a CD with pieces by Kurt Schwaen and Hans Sandig with a symphonic youth orchestra made up of young talents from Berlin's music high schools and conducted various children's operas in cooperation with the Konzerthaus Berlin .

Since 2009 Antoine Rebstein has been chief conductor of the Young Orchestra at the Free University of Berlin . He is also a co-founder of the Swiss ensemble " Cully Classique ", which he has conducted several times as musical director in Switzerland and Germany. Since 2016 he has directed the Berlin Chamber Ensemble.
