Anton Doboş (born October 30, 1965 in Sărmaşu ) is a former Romanian football player and functionary . He played a total of 268 games in the Romanian Divizia A and the Greek Alpha Ethniki . As a national player, he took part in the 1996 European Football Championship and the 1998 World Cup.

Career

society

The career of Doboş began in 1985 at Progresul Braila in Divizia B . After a year he moved to league rivals Sticla Arieşul Turda , before joining the first division club Universitatea Cluj in 1987 . There he developed into a regular player. In the 1988/89 season he succeeded with his team on the last match day of relegation before the top club Dinamo Bucharest took him under contract. There he won his first title in 1990 with the double of championship and cup victory . In the winter break of 1991/92 he moved to local rivals Steaua Bucharest . There he won the Romanian championship four times and the Romanian Cup twice in 1993 , 1994 , 1995 and 1996 .

Doboș left Romania in the summer of 1996 when he was hired by AEK Athens in Greece . There he won the Greek Cup in 1997 , but he was denied winning the championship. After two years, he ended his career in the summer of 1998. In the 1999/2000 season he briefly returned with the second division team Ethnikos Piraeus .

National team

Doboş played a total of 22 missions for the Romanian national team . He made his debut on September 22, 1993 in the friendly against Israel , but was not considered for more than a year by Anghel Iordănescu and returned in February 1995 for two friendly games. Again it took almost a year before Iordănescu nominated him for the last European Championship qualifier against Slovakia on November 15, 1995. Then Doboș was a permanent guest in the circle of the national team. For the European Championship in England in 1996 he was in the squad, but was not used. His last appearance was during the 1998 World Cup in France when he played the last group game against Tunisia on June 26th .

Trainer

Doboş was coach of FCU Politehnica Timişoara in Divizia A for a few games in 2003 and 2004 .

From 2002 to 2005 Doboș was president of FCU Politehnica Timișoara , in 2007 he became president of Universitatea Cluj . After a serious car accident on August 31, 2008, in which he lost part of his memory, he was forced to retire.
