Anton Franz von Wedel

Count Anton Franz von Wedel (born October 26, 1707 ; † May 21, 1788 in Aurich ) was a Prussian chamberlain, secret war council and heir to Evenburg , Nesse and Gödens . On January 21, 1776, he was accepted into the Prussian count.

origin

His parents were the Danish general Erhard Friedrich von Wedel-Jarlsberg (born November 26, 1668 - † July 24, 1740) from the von Wedel family and his wife Maria Juliane von Freitag (* February 6, 1684 - † October 2, 1727) . His brother Erhard von Wedel-Friis (1710–1786) became a royal Danish lieutenant general.

Life

He went into Danish service and in 1727 became second lieutenant in the king's body regiment. In 1728 he joined the Guard on foot and was promoted to captain in 1733. In 1738 he joined the Oldenburg National Infantry Regiment as a second major. In 1738 he inherited the Evenburg and Nesse estates from his brother Gustav Philipp (1706–1738) and in 1741 took his leave. In 1746 he inherited the glory of Gödens from his uncle Burchhard Philipp von Freitag (1685–1746) , who was Reichshofrat and Imperial envoy in Sweden and Denmark. Wedel became a Prussian chamberlain, secret war council and later a member of the Prussian court council as early as 1744. From 1784 he was also president of the estates in the East Frisian landscape . He died on May 21, 1788 in Aurich and was buried in Gödens. For his house he had introduced the primogeniture in his will .

family

He was married twice. His first wife was Elisabeth von Pollmann-Gruys (* October 14, 1714 - January 13, 1749), daughter of Enno von Pollmann-Gruys (* 1687 - May 18, 1723) and baroness Anna Maria zu Inn- und Knyphausen ( † March 8, 1717). The couple had the following children:

  • Juliane Sophie (* December 13, 1734; † April 10, 1774) ⚭ Christoph Friedrich von Derschau (* January 12, 1714; † December 14, 1799)
  • Charlotte Marie (7 May 1737 - 29 April 1814), canon
  • Adelaide Antoinette Elisabeth (born April 14, 1741 - † January 29, 1790), lady in waiting of the Danish Queen Caroline Mathilde and later of Juliane Marie
  • Anna Marie Magdalene (born January 12, 1747; † February 1749)

His wife and daughter, who died prematurely, were buried in the family vault in the church of Loga.

After the death of his first wife, he married Charlotte Marie Juliane Sophie von Wedel-Jarlsberg (* December 2, 1731; † August 4, 1796), the daughter of his brother Gustav Philipp, from whom he inherited the glory of Gödens. The couple had the following children:
