Brage bei der Wieden (* 1963 in Cuxhaven ) is a German historian and archivist . Since 2006 he has been head of the Wolfenbüttel State Archives and the Wolfenbüttel Department of the Lower Saxony State Archives.

Life

Bei der Wieden is a son of the Bückeburg high school teacher and historian Helge Bei der Wieden . He studied at the universities of Bonn , Vienna and Göttingen . In 1992 he was in Göttingen with one of Ernst Schubert supervised work on Ludolf von Munchausen doctorate . In 1989, Bei der Wieden was a research assistant at the Johann Gottfried Herder Institute in Marburg . In 1992/93 he was a member of a graduate college at the University of Göttingen and then completed the archive clerkship at the Osnabrück State Archive and the Marburg Archive School from 1993 to 1995 . From 1995 to 1999 he worked for Wieden as an archivist at the Stade State Archives and then at the Hanover Main State Archives . From 2002 he worked in the "State Archives Administration " department of the Lower Saxony State Chancellery , and from 2005 as Head of the Central Archives Administration of the newly founded Lower Saxony State Archives . In May 2006 he was appointed head of the Wolfenbüttel State Archives.

In 1997 Wieden was appointed to the Historical Commission for Lower Saxony and Bremen and was its managing director from 1999 to 2003. Since 2008 he has been chairman of the Braunschweig Historical Society . Since then he has been editor of the Braunschweigisches Jahrbuch für Landesgeschichte, the sources and research on Braunschweigische Landesgeschichte and the supplements to the Braunschweigisches Jahrbuch. Since 2010 he has been a full member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society . His scientific interests are in Lower Saxony's regional and cultural history.
