Anton Heinstadt

Anton Heinstadt (born October 17, 1886 in Oppershofen , † May 12, 1970 in Friedberg ) was a Hessian politician ( center , CDU ) and former member of the state parliament of the People's State of Hesse in the Weimar Republic .

Anton Heinstadt was the son of the prison warden Anton Heinstadt and his wife Magdalena, née Embach. He was a Roman Catholic and married to his wife Adelaide, née Cretius.

education and profession

After finishing school, Anton Heinstadt attended the Mainz seminary and from 1907 studied philosophy at the University of Giessen . From 1912 to 1914 he completed his legal clerkship in Gießen and Butzbach before he worked as a teacher in Worms and Bensheim and later as a teacher in Bensheim and Butzbach.

After the war, he became head government and school council in the Hessian Ministry of Education in 1946 and from 1950 head of the Landgraf-Ludwig-Gymnasium in Friedberg.

politics

Anton Heinstadt was a member of the center and from 1924 to 1933 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament for four electoral terms. With the seizure of power by the National Socialists, he lost his mandate in the state parliament and could no longer be politically active. From 1934 to 1945 he taught at the Augustinian School in Friedberg.

After the Second World War , he co-founded the CDU in Friedberg. From April 24, 1945 to March 1946, he was appointed mayor of Friedberg by the American occupation forces. In the Hessian municipal elections in 1946 he was elected to the city council of Friedberg, to which he belonged until 1964 (from 1952 as city council chief).

Honors

The Anton-Heinstadt-Weg in Friedberg is named after him.
