coat of arms
In August 1951 the municipality of Oppershofen was granted the right to use a coat of arms by the Hessian State Ministry.
The six-spoke Mainz wheel in silver stands on a red background . It is immediately covered (crowned) by the red elector's hat, which is frosted with a broad, silver-colored ermine and whose silver-colored, pearl-studded temples end in a golden, crossed orb in the middle of the hat. This depicts an episode in the history of Oppershofen that was a reality from 1590 to 1802. The coat of arms of Oppershofen depicts the symbols of the Archbishop and Elector of Mainz , who acted as spiritual and secular lord. The illustration is closely based on the appearance of the Electorate of Mainz coat of arms in the 18th century.
