Anton Krautheimer (born June 18, 1879 in Munich ; † July 18, 1956 there ) was a German sculptor .

life and work

From 1900 on, Krautheimer studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Josef Eberle , Wilhelm von Rümann and Adolf von Hildebrand . During his studies, he worked as a steel engraver and jewelry draftsman for the jewelry manufacturer Victor Mayer in Pforzheim. The company archive there has preserved photographs of jewelry based on his designs, a drawing book with Art Nouveau jewelry designs and numerous copies of letters from Victor Mayer to him.

In 1908 he received the Rome Prize and in 1909 went into business for himself as a sculptor. From then on he sent the Munich Secession and Glass Palace exhibitions with statues in marble, bronze and wood as well as with busts and small sculptures. Many of his works can still be found in public spaces today, e. B. the Hercules fountain on Dom-Pedro-Platz in Munich, the grave of the Lotz family in the cemetery in Berlin / Zehlendorf and the Siegfried figure of the Worms Siegfriedbrunnen made by order of Adolf von Hildebrand .
