Anton Maria Kobolt

Anton Maria Kobolt (wrongly often Kobold ; born November 16, 1752 in Ingolstadt ; † November 28, 1826 in Altötting ) was a German Roman Catholic clergyman and historian .

Life

Kobolt was the son of an officer. From 1764 he first attended school in Ingolstadt, then in 1765 he moved to the Burghausen Jesuit College . There he was trained in philosophy until 1773 . From 1773, he completed the study of philosophy at the University of Ingolstadt to the promotion of Dr. phil. before he also devoted himself to the study of theology and both rights there. On March 29, 1777 he was finally ordained a priest in Eichstätt .

Kobolt was appointed canon at the Collegiate Monastery of Altötting by electoral decree of April 29, 1777 . He took this position in 1778. He stayed in Altötting until the end of his life. In 1795 or 1810 the Royal Bavarian Academy of Sciences appointed him a member.
