Anton Matthias Schön

Anton Matthias Schön (born August 8, 1837 in Hamburg ; † May 2, 1922 there ) was a large landowner, entrepreneur and politician.

biography

Born as the third son of the Hamburg shipowner August Joseph Schön , he spent his childhood with his brothers Christian August Wilhelm Schön (1828–1898) and Gustav Adolf Schön (1834–1889) on the Virgin Islands . After training at Schleiden's School in Hamburg, he studied at the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester in England and at the University of Berlin .

He toured many countries including Belgium , France , England , Scotland and the United States .

In 1878, Schön ran successfully for the German Reichstag . He was a member of the free conservative party and head of office in Brestau near Linderode ( Sorau district ). From 1902 to 1908 he was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .

When his brother Gustav Adolf needed capital for his engagement in Berlin-Weißensee , Anton Matthias Schön supported him. He also took over the chairmanship of the supervisory board of the "Weißenseer Actien-Gesellschaft" when his brother Gustav Adolf moved to Paris in 1874 .

Antonplatz , located in Berlin-Weißensee, has been named after him since around 1874.

Schön was married to Charlotte Helene Godeffroy (1841–1930), a daughter of Johan Cesar Godeffroy (1813–1885)
