Anton Schatz (born June 6, 1917 in Schalders , † October 25, 1964 in Brixen ) was a South Tyrolean politician.

biography

Schatz attended the Salern seminar and graduated from the state high school in Brixen. After serving as a soldier in World War II had served his doctorate of Sodale the Marian Congregation at the University of Innsbruck for Doctor of Law . He then worked in the South Tyrolean Trade Union Federation . Politically, he was involved in the ranks of the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP), which he represented in the regional council of Trentino-South Tyrol from 1952 to 1964 and thus also in the South Tyrolean parliament . In his first legislative period, Schatz was elected to the South Tyrolean provincial government , where he initially acted as a substitute provincial councilor in the Erckert II cabinet , before he was entrusted with the public works department as provincial councilor in 1956. He took on the same task in the years 1956–1960 in the Pupp cabinet . In his third legislative period, he became parliamentary group spokesman for his party in the state parliament at the beginning of 1964. On October 23, 1964, Schatz suffered serious injuries in a car accident, so that he died two days later in the Brixen hospital.
