Anton Spetzler (politician)

Anton Spetzler (born November 11, 1869 in Altona , † March 16, 1934 in Stolpmünde ) was a German politician (DVP).

After attending elementary school , the high school in Bochum and the Progymnasium in Eckernförde , Spetzler completed an agricultural apprenticeship from 1886 to 1889. He then completed a commercial apprenticeship in agriculture. In addition, he attended the agricultural school in Kappeln an der Schlei in the Schleswig district. Later he attended a training course for office and community administration and worked for half a year to familiarize himself with the Eckernförde district office. He then worked for a few years as an agricultural civil servant and also worked in commercial businesses for a few years.

Later Spetzler went into business for himself as a farmer, farm owner and small landowner in the provinces of Poznan and West Prussia . In addition, Spetzler took on a number of public offices during the German Empire, especially in West Prussia. He became a member of a number of economic associations and societies, such as chairman of the house and landowners association in Oliva and the local horticultural and small animal breeding association. He was also the 2nd chairman of the Provincial Association of West Prussian Pedigree Goat Breeders in Danzig . He also became a peasant council of the municipality of Oliva, member of the district farmers 'and agricultural workers' council of the Danzig Höhe district. He also took on the role of secretary on the board of this association. During the First World War Spetzler was active in the voluntary service of the community of Oliva. There he was entrusted with the food supply, the management of the local coal station and the war welfare aid.

After he had been active in the National Liberal Party in the German Empire , Spetzler joined the German People's Party (DVP) around 1919 and became a member of the party's provincial board and chairman of the local branch of the People's Party in Oliva.

In the summer of 1919 he bought a farm in Schmaatz (Klinkenberg) near Stolp in Pomerania. In the first Reichstag election of the Weimar Republic in July 1920, Spetzler was elected as a candidate for the DVP for constituency 6 (Pomerania) in the Reichstag , of which he was a member until the May 1924 election.

In addition, Spetzler published a number of articles on questions of agriculture, house and land ownership, and workers' questions.
