Anton Weilmaier

Anton Weilmaier (born April 2, 1920 in Hausham ; † April 24, 1981 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Weilmaier attended elementary school, the mining vocational school and completed his professional training as a miner . He practiced this profession until 1947. During World War II he was a mountain fighter, and in 1943 he was seriously wounded near Orel . After the end of his activity as a miner, he became youth secretary of IG Bergbau for the district of southern Germany in 1947 , and in 1950 he became its district manager. For a few years he sat as a representative of the miners insured in the miners 'board, in 1962 he was elected chairman of the miners' union, at the same time he represented the South German miners 'union and belonged to the working group of all German miners' associations. From 1958 to 1970 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . In addition, he sat in the district council of the district of Miesbach and in the local council of his home community Hausham, from 1966 until his death he was the first full-time mayor there. On June 9, 1969, he was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit .
