Anton van Rinsum

Anton van Rinsum (born January 22, 1891 in Vryenban near Delft ( Holland ), † January 17, 1973 in Munich ) was a German hydraulic engineer and university professor .

Life

He studied civil engineering at the technical universities in Hanover and Munich, where he received his diploma in 1918. In 1921, after passing the second state examination, he entered the Bavarian civil service. On the Danube, he played a key role in the planning and construction of flood dams in the area of ​​the road and river construction authorities in Regensburg and Degendorf . In 1934 he received his doctorate at the Technical University of Munich on the subject of "The runoff in open natural watercourses". In 1938 he was appointed to the Bavarian State Office for Hydrology. Where he was director from 1950 until his retirement in 1956. For several years he was chairman of the examination board for the higher civil engineering service. From 1958 to 1963 he had a teaching position in river engineering at the Geographical Institute of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . From 1965 to 1968 a lectureship in hydrology at TUM. In 1966 he received the title of honorary professor. In the thematic framework, he investigated discharge regulations and suspended matter transport, flood protection.
