Anton Widder , from 1861 Ritter von Widder (born January 13, 1809 in Munich ; † June 22, 1893 ibid), was a German lawyer .

Live and act

Widder was the son of Government President Gabriel Bernhard von Widder (1774–1831) and his wife Anna Maria, née von Bonin; his grandfather Johann Goswin Widder (1734–1800) wrote a four-volume description of the Electoral Palatinate as a civil servant , which is still one of the fundamental sources in Palatinate historical research.

In 1827 Anton von Widder graduated from the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium in Munich . He then studied law in Munich and Würzburg and entered the Bavarian administrative service.

From 1854 to 1870 he was the second legally qualified mayor of Munich. At the 13th German Catholic Day in Munich in 1861, Anton von Widder was one of the honorary members of the assembly. From 1858 to 1869 he served as prefect (chairman) of the Marian Congregation for Men at the Bürgersaal in Munich .

According to the grave inscription, he was the owner of the Knight's Cross of the Order of St. Michael and since 1861 the Order of Merit of the Bavarian Crown , which gave him the personal title of nobility.

Widder's grave is located in the Old Southern Cemetery in Munich (Gräberfeld 3 - Row 12 - Place 54).

Anton von Widder was married to Amalie, born in 1839. von Braunmühl (1818–1905).
