Antonio Álvarez Giráldez (born April 10, 1955 in Marchena ) is a former Spanish football player and current coach. He has been without a club since September 2010.
Career
Antonio Álvarez played in his active career as a player from 1974 to 1988 for Sevilla FC , then also for FC Málaga and FC Granada .
On March 25, 2010 he became a coach at Sevilla FC after Manolo Jiménez had previously been sacked. Álvarez led the club to fourth place in the table, which was equivalent to participating in the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League . With the Andalusian club he won the 2010 Copa del Rey . In the play-offs of the UEFA Champions League , Álvarez failed with Sevilla at Sporting Braga . After Sevilla FC lost to UD Almería , Álvarez was sacked on September 26, 2010.
