Antonio Alkana (born April 12, 1990 in Cape Town ) is a South African hurdler who has specialized in the 110-meter hurdles and has held the African record since 2017.

Athletic career

International experience accumulated Antonio Alkana at the World Championships in 2015 in Beijing , where he's with 13.63 in advance eliminated. He then won the gold medal in 13.32 s at the Africa Games in Brazzaville . In 2016 he was eliminated from the first round of the World Indoor Championships in Portland and then won the gold medal at the African Championships in Durban . He qualified for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where he was eliminated with 13.55 s in the semifinals .

In 2017 he qualified again for the World Championships in London , where he reached the semi-finals with 13.59 seconds . In 2018 Alkana took part in the Commonwealth Games in the Australian Gold Coast for the first time and finished fifth there in 13.49 s.

In 2013, 2015, 2016 and 2018, Alkana was the South African champion in the 110-meter hurdles. He also won the national title with the 4 x 100 meter relay in 2013 and 2015.
