The Antonstraße is an arterial road from Dresden in the east. As a section of today's federal highway 6 in the Inner Neustadt, it leads from the Marienbrücke on the Elbe , past the Dresden-Neustadt train station (Neustädter Bahnhof) to Albertplatz .

The street was named after King Anton of Saxony , known as the Kind, who ruled the Kingdom of Saxony from 1827 to 1836 .
Originally, Antonstrasse was roughly the western border of the town of Altendresden on the right bank of the Elbe , the city and later fortress walls of which partly ran at the site of today's street. Today the Äußere Neustadt (also known as Antonstadt ) borders on Antonstrasse to the north .
The Villa Augustin in house Antonstrasse 1 houses the Erich Kästner Museum with documents on the life and work of this writer from Dresden.
On the north side of Antonstrasse there are several characteristic buildings in the classical style , including the listed building at Antonstrasse 8 , in which the Altes Wettbüro restaurant is located.
In addition to the rental villa Antonstrasse 5, the so-called Elephant House at Antonstrasse 7/9 with the elephant relief above the main entrance and other buildings below are under state monument protection.
One of the special buildings along Antonstrasse is the well house for the Artesian Well , which was completely reconstructed by 1990 . There is a source ( location ) under the slate-roofed fountain house next to the high-rise on Albertplatz . The well was drilled 243.25 meters deep into the ground between 1832 and 1836.
