Antsalova is a place in Madagascar and the capital of the district of the same name .

Geographical location

Antsalova, with a population of around 16,000 (as of 2001), is located at an altitude of 105 m in the Melaky region , in the Mahajanga province , in western Madagascar. The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park, which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site , is not far from the town.

Economy and Infrastructure

The inhabitants, who belong to the Sakalava people , live 76% from cattle breeding and 20% from agriculture. 3% of the population are fishermen. The main agricultural products are rice, corn and cassava .

In Antsavola Route nationale 8 meets from the south and Route nationale 8a from the north. Antsavola also has its own airport .
