Anvil (before 2008 Scimitar ) is a game engine from Ubisoft for computer and console games. The engine became known through the games Assassin's Creed or Prince of Persia .

Difference between Scimitar and Anvil

The engine was renamed Anvil at the start of development of Assassin's Creed II because its graphical abilities were improved.

The graphical improvements include the day and night cycle, vegetation technology, improved rendering, and improved lighting and reflections. In addition, the AI ​​and the environment recognition, which is used for climbing, have been expanded.

AnvilNext

AnvilNext is the successor to Anvil, which has been developed by Ubisoft Montreal since December 2010. The new engine was first used in Assassin's Creed III , released in October 2012 .
