Shaun White Snowboarding is a sport simulation of snowboarding made by Ubisoft Montreal developed and since November 14, 2008 Ubisoft is sold.
Gameplay
The plot is built around the professional snowboard and skateboarder and Olympic champion Shaun White . The game simulates four winter sports areas in Alaska, Park City , Europe and Japan. Each mountain enables races against computer-generated and online opponents, time trials and stunt events such as big air competitions , freestyle rides and death races. The open-world game can be explored in freeride on a snowboard , on foot, with the ski lift or a helicopter. New descents , game sections and challenges are unlocked by collecting 4 × 12 coins. The player character or avatar can be modified and the snowboard, bindings and clothing exchanged. In multiplayer mode , up to 16 players can meet, chat and drive on a mountain via the Internet or a local area network . However, competitions can only be completed by eight players at the same time.
Shaun White Snowboarding was originally developed for the Wii game console with the support of the Wii Balance Board.
presentation
It is displayed by the Scimitar graphics engine , which was first used in the Assassin's Creed game . The game character is animated in the game engine using motion capture , a ragdoll system for falls was not implemented. The console porting requires the DirectX9.0c programming interface on the Microsoft Windows operating system and offers three graphic modes with an image resolution of 800 × 600 ( SVGA ), 1024 × 768 ( XGA ) and 1280 × 720 ( HD 720 ).
Soundtrack
The soundtrack includes 40 licensed pop and rock songs from the last 30 years by bands such as Run-DMC , Incubus , Faithless and rock musician Bob Dylan .
reception
|
“The diversity of missions really cannot cover itself with glory and the radar, well-intentioned as an idea, is more confusing than helping horror. What initially seemed like a snow-blowing counterpart to EAs skate and a welcome replacement for the now three-year-old Amped 3, is in the long run nothing more, but also nothing less than passable snowboard entertainment in a largely impressive atmosphere. "
"The controls, the unfavorable mixture of simulation and arcade titles as well as the moderate long-term motivation throw Shaun White huge sticks in front of the board."
“Shaun White Snowboarding is different from previous games in this sector. Here the feeling and the realism come first. That will certainly not appeal to everyone, because crazy tricks, monster jumps and other absurd things are simply not available. "
“Shaun White Snowboarding actually offers everything a good game of piste sports needs. Unfortunately the control fails. "
There is criticism of the developer Ubisoft, which does not react to processors of the latest generation. The Intel i7 processor with SWS Hyper-Threading is not supported. Users with such processors cannot start the game. A patch has not yet been announced.
