Apostol Popow (born December 22, 1982 in Chaskowo ) is a Bulgarian football player . He plays since summer 2015, CS Universitatea Craiova in Liga 1 , the highest Romanian league.

Career

Popow began his career at Spartak Plovdiv before moving to Botew Plovdiv in 2008 via PFC Belite Orli Plewen and FK Chaskowo . The central defender made his debut in the Bulgarian top division on August 10, 2008 against FC Chernomorets Burgas . The game was lost 0: 1, Popow played until the 65th minute. This season he came on a further 24 missions and scored against Belasiza Petritsch . The club was 13th in the league and was able to prevent relegation by four points.

In 2009 he moved to CSKA Sofia , where he promptly made his debut at European club level. In the group game of the UEFA Europa League against Fulham on December 3, 2009 Popow played through. The game in London was lost 0-1. In the championship he came to 13 missions and one goal. ZSKA was runner-up at the end of the season. In summer 2015 he moved to CS Universitatea Craiova in the Romanian League 1 . Initially he was a regular there, but from March 2017 he was hardly used any more.
