Foundation, third and second league

In 2005 the club was founded under the name FC Chernomorets 919 Burgas . The club sees itself as the legal successor to the FC Chernomorets club founded in 1919 .

In its first season (2005/06) the club played in the amateur league and qualified for the second (professional) Bulgarian football league . Since 2002 Mitko Sabew was also the owner of the second traditional football club from Burgas, FC Neftochimik , which played in the first division until 2005/06 . After Chernomorets rose to the second division, Sabev had two professional teams, which violated the regulations of the Bulgarian Football Association. So Sabev tried together with the municipality of Burgas (which owned the sports facilities of the FC Chernomorets club, founded in 1919 ) to unite both clubs under the name FC Chernomorets before the end of the 2005/06 season . However, the fan groups of both clubs, the population in Burgas and Iwajlo Draschew , president of the former Chernomorets-Burgas-Balgaria club , who also saw himself as the successor to the Chernomorets FC club founded in 1919, oppose this .

After the end of the 2005/06 season, the FC Neftochimik was revoked because of the above-described violation of its owner, the license for the first division, and he had to start the 2006/07 season in the second division. Sabew officially separated from FC Neftochimik in favor of Festa Holding , which is close to Sabew. After the unsuccessful unification attempt and the forced relegation of Neftomichimik, it was decided to give the FC Chernomorets 919 Burgas the greater support. The better players of the two teams were bundled in FC Chernomorez 919 Burgas. The venue for both teams was the former "Neftochimik Stadium", one of the most modern in Bulgaria, which was renamed Stadium Lasur for this purpose .

In the summer of 2006, FC Chernomorets 919 Burgas was renamed PSFC Chernomorets Burgas . The 2006/07 season ended the PSFC Chernomorets Burgas first in the second division East and was promoted directly to the league after just one year. FC Neftochimik, on the other hand, finished second with just one defeat from their city rivals.

First League

The team in the 2012/13 season

PSFC Chernomorets has played in the Bulgarian first division since the 2007/08 season . After the successful 2006/07 season, it was decided to modernize the old “Chernomorets” stadium (until 1990 “9 Septemvri” stadium) in the Akaziite district . A modern new building is to be built, which should be completed by the end of 2008. Due to legal disputes with the former tenant of the Chernomorets stadium, Ivajlo Draschew , this plan has not yet been implemented. However, construction should start by 2013. Until then, the PSFC Chernomorets will play its home games in the Lasur Stadium.

At the end of March 2009, the German ex-national player Fredi Bobič signed a contract dated until 2014 as managing director for sports and marketing. Together with his former Stuttgart teammate Krassimir Balakow , who replaced Dimitar Dimitrov as coach, Bobič wanted to lead the club to the top of the national league in the next few years. Another legionnaire from the Bundesliga, Ilija Gruew , became assistant coach. In July 2010, however, Bobič moved back to VfB Stuttgart , where he succeeded Horst Heldt as sports director.

His first official act in Burgas was the commitment of the former Bremen goalkeeper Pascal Borel until the end of the season. The regular goalkeeper had to undergo an operation. Borel last played for Honved Budapest and had actually already ended his career.

In 2010, the modern training center was Hainest ( Bulgarian гнездо на акули ) near the district of Sarafovo completed majority. On July 27, 2010 Bobič left Chernomorets and became sports director of VfB Stuttgart . The former Bulgarian international Slatko Jankow became the sporting director .

In the 2010/11 season Chernomorets was able to win in the first half of the season against all clubs from Sofia ( CSKA , Levski , Slavia and Lokomotiv ), only the newly promoted Akademik Sofia could secure a point. Chernomorets spent the 2010/11 winter break in 3rd place with 28 points and one defeat. At the beginning of December, however, it became known that the major shareholders of Petrol Holding opposed the ambitious project and club owner Mitko Sabew refused to provide the necessary resources for the coach's five-year program. Thereupon the contract with Balakow was canceled by mutual agreement. His successor was the former coach of Minjor Pernik , Anton Welkow . Gian Piero Persichetti , former sports director of Lazio Rome , became the new sports director . Under the new leadership, some of the regulars left the club, but the former German U20 national player Savio Nsereko moved to Burgas.

Under the new coach Welkow, Chernomorets could not build on the successes of the preliminary round. He was won after four games in which only one point (1: 1 with Akademik Sofia) and after three defeats (0: 4 against CSKA Sofia, 0: 1 against Levski Sofia and 0: 3 against bottom of the table Widima Rakowski) fired. Next to him, the entire management left the club. The lawyer from Burgas Plamen Kirjakow became the new sports director . On March 21, the new board presented Georgi Wassilew as the new trainer. He signed a one and a half year contract with the club. Under Vasilev the team was able to stabilize, but not build on the successes of the preliminary round. In the cup competition, Chernomorets was stopped in the quarterfinals in a penalty drama by Slavia Sofia . Chernomorets ended the 2010/11 season in 8th place in the table with 37 points and fell short of their own expectations and goals. The Chernomorets project failed to convince the fans either, and the team had to play their home games in an almost empty stadium.

On May 30, 2011, the contract with Georgi Wassilew was terminated. His place was taken by Dimitar Dimitrov , who brought the club from the third to the Bulgarian First League. In the summer they parted ways with almost all expensive, especially foreign players. For this, young and clubless players were committed for the 2011/12 season . Chernomorets spent the winter break in 3rd place with 33 points, two defeats and a goal difference of 25: 5. The 2011/12 season ended Chernomorets in 4th place in the table with 60 points and a goal difference of 57:23 and narrowly missed qualifying for the 2012/13 UEFA Europa League .
