Savio Magala Nsereko (born July 27, 1989 in Kampala , Uganda ) is a German football player .

Career

In the club

Nsereko emigrated to Germany at a young age, where he started playing football at SV 1880 Munich. After his talent was recognized at TSV 1860 Munich , he was already committed in his youth. In 2005, at the age of 16, he moved to Brescia Calcio in Italy . The then coach Zdeněk Zeman made his debut for Brescia on May 28, 2006 on the last match day of the 2005/06 season against FC Crotone ( 2-4 ). His second game followed over a year later in the 2007/08 season when he came on as a substitute for Marco Zambelli after 57 minutes . In the 2008/09 season he played 17 games in the first half of the season and scored three goals and was courted by many clubs.

On January 25, 2009 Nsereko moved to England to West Ham United . The transfer should have been around 8.5 million euros , according to other information 10 million pounds sterling (converted about 11 million euros). He made his debut for West Ham United three days later, on January 28, 2009, when he came on as a substitute for David Di Michele in the 86th minute in a 2-0 Premier League win against Hull City . Since moving to England he has been playing under the name Savio .

After eight months and ten professional appearances, in which he was mostly only a substitute, Savio moved back to Italy in August 2009 for the first division club Fiorentina . In exchange, Manuel da Costa moved to West Ham. In January 2010 he moved to Bologna on loan. In addition, Bologna was granted the right to acquire 50 percent of Nsereko's transfer rights.

In summer 2010 he returned to 1860 Munich; he was loaned for the 2010/11 season. He was substituted on in the second half of the first and third day of play, and he was on the starting line-up for the cup game in Verl . After that it was no longer used. At the beginning of October he stayed away from training and other appointments with the team without notification. After he had not reported in the following two weeks, he was given notice of termination on October 22nd.

In early January 2011 Nsereko was loaned out by the Bulgarian first division club FC Chernomorez Burgas . On February 26, 2011, he made his debut for the Bulgarian team in the game against Akademik Sofia . The game ended 1-1. In Burgas, however, he could not convince, and so he continued his career in the Italian Serie B with the SS Juve Stabia in July 2011 . There he was rarely used, however, and in January 2012 he moved to Romania to FC Vaslui . He then returned to Florence, but was loaned out again at the end of August 2012. This time he returned to Germany and signed a loan contract with third division club SpVgg Unterhaching until the end of June 2013.

After Nsereko had traveled to Thailand in October 2012 without informing his club, the sports management of SpVgg Unterhaching terminated the loan contract prematurely and without notice.

Nsereko only drew attention to himself again when he ran out of funds and then faked his own kidnapping in order to extort ransom from his own family. The concerned relatives turned on the German embassy , which notified the Thai police. Nsereko finally picked it up and arrested him. Nsereko himself spoke of a misunderstanding: "There was neither the fake kidnapping nor was I in prison."

After he remained suspended from Fiorentina, Nsereko kept fit in Cologne with a private coach. At the beginning of January 2013 he completed a trial training session with the German third division club Preußen Münster and received a contract offer for the remainder of the 2012/13 season. However, there was no engagement. Nsereko then moved to FC Viktoria Köln in the Regionalliga West. After only six games for Cologne, in which he did not score, he was suspended by the club in May 2013. On December 23, 2013, he signed a contract with the Kazakh club FK Atyrau . After six months without a club, he was under contract with Beroe Stara Sagora in Bulgaria from February to July 2015 . In March 2016 he moved to Lithuania and joined the first division club FK Lietava Jonava . On March 17, 2016, Nsereko made his debut against FBK Kaunas in Kėdainiai .

In the summer of 2016, his contract was not renewed. At the end of May 2017, Bayern league club FC Pipinsried announced the commitment of Nserekos. Four days before the start of the season, the mutually agreed termination of the contract was announced on July 21, 2017.

In February 2018 he signed a contract with the Bulgarian first division club FC Wereja Stara Sagora . The contract was limited to the end of the 2017/2018 season . Nsereko came to three missions for the team from Stara Zagora.

After his engagement in Bulgaria ended in the summer of 2018, he joined the Bavarian B division club SC Armin Munich as a youth coach for the U-14 team. During the winter break of the current 2018/19 season, he decided to return to active football. He made his debut for the first team of SC Armin in a test match during the winter break. A few weeks later, his first appearance in a league game against the second team of FC Fürstenried , in which he scored two goals. He scored a total of seven goals in seven games this season.

Nsereko started the 2019/20 season with 14 goals in twelve appearances for SC Armin Munich. During the winter break, he moved to BSC Sendling within Munich . Here, too, as before at SC Armin, he has a double function: Nsereko is both assistant coach for the first team and player- coach for the second team playing in the A-class.

In the national team

Nsereko has German citizenship and was a German junior national player. With the U-19 he became European champion in 2008 . In the final, however, he was absent due to a yellow card suspension. For the U20 he played three times from 2008 to 2010.

Style of play

Savio usually plays on the left wing to pull in front of goal and finish with his stronger right foot, but can also act on the right side or as a striker in a two-man storm.
