Jonava Central Stadium

FK Jonava is a football club from the Lithuanian town of Jonava . Until 2018, the team played in the first-class A Lyga . The club was four times champion in the 1 Lyga (1992-1993, 1998-1999, 2012 and 2015).

history

Football has been played in Jonava since the end of World War II . The names of the teams were "Spartakas", "Žalgiris", "Baldininkas", "Kooperatininkas", "Statyba", "Automobilininkas", "Azotas", "Achema-Lietava". From 1966 the team existed at the Soviet-Lithuanian fertilizer plant G / S Azotas (now AB Achema ). From 1978 to 1989 they played in the first-class Lyga of Soviet Lithuania , while the strongest Lithuanian clubs took part in the Wysschaja League of the Soviet Union .

Today's association was founded in 1991 and has been called "Lietava" since 1996. On October 1, 2013, the public institution VšĮ "Jonavos futbolas" was established, which is the sponsor of the association. In 2015 the annual budget was 100,000 euros. The team was approved with the exceptions for the transition season 2016 of the first-class A Lyga . Robertas Poškus has been the head coach and Marius Bezykornovas his assistant since March 2016 .

Lietava scored the first victory in March 2016 in Visaginas against FK Utenis from Utena . That was the second Lietava game in A Lyga . The result of the third Lietava game in the A Lyga was 2-2, although the first half against FBK Kaunas ended 0-2.

In 2018, FK Jonava relegated directly to the second division ( FK Panevėžys made promotion to A Lyga ).

The second team is "Jonava B", the head coach is Paulius Vizbaras (* 1980). The team plays in the II lyga , the third highest division in Lithuanian football. The team was founded in 1980 as the Neris team. From 2011 to 2017 it was called Fajetonas .
