The Apostolic Vicariate of Ava and Pegu ( lat. : Apostolicus Vicariatus Ava et Pegu ) was in Myanmar situated Roman Catholic Apostolic Vicariate based in Ava .
history
The Apostolic Vicariate Ava and Pegù was established in 1741 by Pope Benedict XIV from cession of territory from the diocese of São Tomé of Meliapore . In 1856 the Apostolic Vicariate Ava and Pegù was by Pope Pius IX. renamed the Apostolic Vicariate Burma. The vicariate was dissolved on November 27, 1866 and the territory was divided into the newly established Apostolic Vicariates of Central Burma , Southwest Burma and Eastern Burma .
