Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bildungshäuser Österreich

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bildungshäuser Österreich ( Arge ) is the umbrella association of Austrian educational institutions and is therefore a member of the Conference of Adult Education in Austria (KEBÖ). The consortium is organized as an independent, non-profit association, the members of which are educational institutions from different sources across Austria . The members are autonomous in their activities and working methods. 342 employees work in the twenty Arge educational establishments. In 2009 around 15,000 events were held and around 360,000 event guests counted.

history

In 1954 the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft der Bildungsheim" was founded. The first chairman was the head of the Volksbildungshaus Graschnitz (now the Federal Institute for Adult Education-BifEB) Hans Wittmann. In their early days, the educational homes concentrated primarily on rural education. In the 1950s the content expanded to include other areas of adult education. In 1998 the educational homes were renamed to Bildungshäuser.

The current chairman is the head of the Krastowitz Castle Education Center, Ing. Rudolf Planton.

tasks

The consortium represents the interests of the member houses vis-à-vis the institutions relevant to educational policy, other adult education associations, the public and the sponsors of the educational institutions. Associated with this is the support in securing the economic basis for adult education work in the member houses, through the provision of financial and human resources by the public sector. Cooperation with other adult education associations at national and international level pursues the goal of further developing educational work. The consortium organizes area-related further training events for the qualification of the employees in the educational institutions. The consortium has been ISO 9001: 2000 certified since 2000 . For this purpose, an internal system for quality assurance was developed, which is characterized by regular quality circles and partnership-based advice between the houses.

Members

The members of the consortium are united by a Christian-humanistic image of man, combined with constitutional and democratic principles. A prerequisite for membership is an independent, full-time pedagogical manager who is responsible for the conception, organization, implementation / accompaniment and evaluation of events. A continuous offer of educational events of various shapes and lengths to promote personal, social, religious, political, professional, musical and cultural education is also required. An education house in the sense of the consortium is characterized by the combination of teaching, learning together and living in the house. A corresponding spatial offer with accommodation and meals is a prerequisite for this.
